Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment

For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. - James 2:13

6 For you have exacted pledges of your brothers for nothing and stripped the naked of their clothing. 

7 You have given no water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. 

8 The man with power possessed the land, and the favored man lived in it. 

9 You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless were crushed. 

10 Therefore snares are all around you, and sudden terror overwhelms you, 

11 or darkness, so that you cannot see, and a flood of water covers you. 

12 "Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are! 

13 But you say, 'What does God know? Can he judge through the deep darkness?  - Job 22:6-13

25 With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless; 

26 with the purified you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous. 

27 For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down. 

28 For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. 

29 For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. 

30 This God-his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. 

31 For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?- 

32 the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless.  - Psalm 18:25-32

Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.  - Proverbs 21:13

but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. - Matthew 6:15

32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.

33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?'

34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.

35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart." - Matthew 18:32-35

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you." - Luke 6:38

11 and I will execute judgments upon Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

12 "Thus says the Lord GOD: Because Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended in taking vengeance on them,

13 therefore thus says the Lord GOD, I will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off from it man and beast. And I will make it desolate; from Teman even to Dedan they shall fall by the sword.

14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and they shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord GOD. - Ezekiel 25:11-14

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." - Mark 12:30-31
