BIBLE MEDITATION
“And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they [the enemy] had besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver” 2 Kings 6:25
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
In Samaria there was a terrible famine, and the result was a depraved diet. The same is true for us—a depraved diet is the mark of our day. Only ours is a spiritual famine, not a physical one.
Today we're feeding on all sorts of depravity and filth. Why? Why are millions of people feeding on pornography? Why are they going to see sick movies and so-called adult films? Why are dens of iniquity called “gentlemen’s clubs” and casinos and night clubs filled with people? Because there's a famine in our land—a famine for the Word of God. Anytime a man, woman, boy or girl is not properly fed, they will start consuming a depraved diet.
ACTION POINT
How do you change your diet and keep from feeding on fare that poisons your soul? Not simply by saying, “I'm going to be good.” You must load up on the Word of God. Feast on the honey, the milk, the meat of God’s Word. Then you won’t be hungry for that which corrupts yet doesn’t satisfy.
