PRAY OVER THIS
So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers, and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. …And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”
(2 Samuel 11:3-5)
PONDER THIS
When God says don’t commit adultery, He’s not trying to keep us from sex. He’s trying to keep sex for us. It is God’s gift. Therefore, it is to be used in its proper context. Rightfully used, it is wonderful. Wrongfully used, it is horrible. You may tell me, “there’s a fire in your house.” If the fire is in the walls, that’s horrible. But if it’s in the oven, and making biscuits, that’s wonderful. Likewise, you may say, “There’s some sod where you live.” If it’s in the front yard, that’s wonderful. If it’s on the living room rug, that’s horrible. What is beautiful in the front yard is just plain dirt on the rug. In the same way, sex can be a beautiful gift from God or a twisted distortion. For Christians, sex is not something to cast aside, but rather something to be received in the way that God intended. When we do this, we will receive the full benefits of the gift.

Take time today to pray and ask God to help you receive all of the gifts He gives in a way that honors Him and not according to your own desires.
