PRAY OVER THIS
“…concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.” Hebrews 11:19
PONDER THIS
When we were children, we use to have a saying, “Finders keepers; losers weepers.” Did you ever say that? God says, “Keepers weepers; losers finders.” Lose your life for Mine and you will find it. (See Matthew 16:25.) The Bible says in Hebrews 11:19, Abraham was “concluding that God was able to raise him (Isaac) up, even from the dead…” The word concluding literally means “considered.” It means to reckon. It means to calculate. It’s the Greek word we get our word “logistics” from and our word “logic” from. Abraham was saying, “God, You gave me this boy. I can trust You with him. You have a purpose. I can trust You. You made a promise, then I reckon on it. God, You’re going to keep Your word. You cannot lie. I don’t have to understand. I don’t have to run it past the judgment of my own knowledge.” And God gave him back his son by providing another way. In response, Abraham called the name of that place, “Jehovah-Jireh,” meaning, “God will provide.” (See Genesis 22:14.)
How do you regularly count on the promises of God?
How does knowing and studying the promises of God change the way we look at daily life?
PRACTICE THIS
Write out a promise of God you are counting on to be true. How should you live today in light of this promise?
