So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.” EXODUS 1:22
PONDER THIS
At the time Moses was born, Pharaoh drowned the boy babies of the Israelites. And yet, Hebrews 11:23 reflects on the moment they hid Moses and says, “They were not afraid.” How could this be?
They understood the nature of the battle. They understood that they were not in a battle with some earthly king. They were really in a battle with the power behind his throne, the spiritual forces we cannot see.
They knew they were in a spiritual battle that went far beyond the physical battle. In a strange way, that encouraged their faith, because they knew God has incredible power over the enemy. It takes a lot of faith to say, “I’m going to raise children in treacherous days.” How is it possible? Only by faith. You cannot be dominated by a spirit of fear, and you cannot afford to be lazy. You cannot afford to be selfish. Don’t let the devil intimidate you. Faith pushes us on even as the world feels dark and hopeless. It is the kind of faith we want to pass on to the next generation.
What are some ways God has equipped you during a challenging time?
What are some of the spiritual battles you are up against now? How can you hold onto faith through those challenges?
PRACTICE THIS
Pray for someone you know who is facing spiritual battles. Ask God to give that person faith to hold to Him in this difficult time.
