Life of Flesh Is In the Blood

Lev.17:11
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.

Heb.9:22
Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Matt.26:28
for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Romans 3:25
whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

Romans 5:9-12
9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned-

Eph.1:7-10
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight
9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ
10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

1 John 1:7-10
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Rev.1:5
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

  1. This is an impressive compilation of verses dealing with lifeblood! ...So what conclusions do you draw from this vein of thought?
    (pardon, I couldn't resist)

  2. Ha! I love what the verses say! Blood atones! Whether it's by sacrifice of animals as in the OT or by the new NT covenant which is far more perfect! Christ, through His blood atonement, having paid man's debt for God's wrath due sinful man, once and for all!
The shedding of the blood of the One who was pure and undefiled, the only acceptable sacrifice to the Creator! If we follow Christ, we have forgiveness, we bow before His majesty and know Christ is Lord and Savior! The soul of man has no recourse for salvation but the work of Christ on the cross, period! And all this through grace by faith available to all who will believe, what a Savior! And all this while we were yet sinners! What more can be said?
