PRAY OVER THIS
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8
PONDER THIS
The word destroy does not mean annihilate in the Greek language, it means to make ineffective. We use the term today to mean, “wiped out.” Jesus wiped Satan out on the cross; He put him out of commission. On the cross, Jesus ruined Satan's kingdom and now Satan has no power or authority over you. Before you were saved, you were Satan's slave; you were Satan's dirty plaything. You may say, “Well I was free.” Yeah, you thought you were free. You were free to do what you wanted, but you were not free to do as you ought. You were Satan's slave, but Jesus has come to set you free. Jesus came to destroy the destroyer and now because we have new life in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will never ever face the penalty of our sin. I don't have to listen to Satan anymore. I don't have to obey him, because his power has been broken and destroyed by Jesus.
If you are a Christian, in what ways does being in Christ make you free?
What specific power of Satan has Jesus destroyed in your life?
PRACTICE THIS
Take time today to share with another person the freedom you have experienced in Christ.
