PRAY OVER THIS
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27
PONDER THIS
Do you know what my assignment from God is? My assignment from God is to love Joyce as Christ loved the Church. And how does Jesus love the Church? The verse says that He loved it this way, “[He] gave Himself for her, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing.” Do you know what spots are? That’s defilement. Do you know what a wrinkle is? It’s an inward scar. But many husbands have failed to love as they ought.
My chief assignment from God is to make Joyce a more radiant, beautiful Christian. If you are a married man, that is your chief assignment also—take it seriously.
The bottom line is, you cannot have a Christian home without having Christians, any more than you could have a cherry pie without cherries. And if you want God in your home, then you’ve got to give your heart to God and be transformed by Him. Through Him, you can truly know His love and extend it to others.
How has the love of Christ changed the way you love others?
Where is God calling you to love others in a specific way this week?
PRACTICE THIS
Pray and ask God to show you someone to whom you can extend His love. If you are married, do something special to extend God’s love to your spouse.
