Creating a Family Culture of Worship

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

(John 4:24)

 

PONDER THIS

We become like what we worship. It is so important that we have a proper conception of God. We must understand who God is and what God is like. Therefore, God has absolutely forbidden the making of anything material as an object of worship. Why? Because God is not a material God; He is spiritual. That is His essence. God is spirit and to worship Him, we must worship Him in spirit and truth. What material thing can represent spirit? God is like a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere. How would you make the image of a God like that? You cannot do it. So, we are forbidden from making anything material to show what God is like.

We communicate love for God with our worship. How are you teaching your children about the worship of God? The greatest thing you can do for your children is teach them to worship. How you worship will go on down to your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren. The way you worship has a result that will last long after you are gone.

What have you learned from the way in which your mothers and fathers in the faith worshiped?

How do you worship God on a regular basis? Think outside the boundaries of Sunday morning service alone.
