PRAY OVER THIS
“On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, ‘They have no wine.’” John 2:1-3
PONDER THIS
The first miracle Jesus performed took place at a wedding. This miracle tells us that Jesus is not a cosmic killjoy. He came so that we might have abounding joy. Jesus turned what could have been a disaster into something delightful. Jesus has a way of turning the monotonous to the momentous.
Another beautiful example is Jesus preparing breakfast for the disciples in John 21. He is the Lord who cares about the things that concern you. The life Jesus gives is abundant life. Jesus made more than enough wine for the wedding. When Jesus fed the five thousand, there were twelve baskets full of food left over. When the prodigal son began to return to the father’s house in Luke 15:17, he said, “my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare.” When our Lord saves us, He does more than deliver us from Hell, He gives us life abundant and free. He doesn’t merely pardon our sins. The Bible says He will abundantly pardon us and give us new life in Him!
How joyful do you typically think of Jesus as being? Why?
Why is Jesus’ joy important to remember?
