Are You Learning to See?

PRAY OVER THIS

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”

John 20:30-31

PONDER THIS

I used to think what you had to do for people to be saved was simply tell them how to be saved. Just “turn on the light.” But it doesn’t matter how much light there is if a person is blind. It takes more than preaching for people to be saved. I can preach truth, but only the Holy Spirit can impart truth. That is one reason prayer is so important. We are dependent on God to open blinded eyes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And once you have the light, you must learn to see. That is the process of sanctification, going deeper in your faith. Man’s greatest need is to admit and confess spiritual blindness. When a person says, “I see,” he or she remains blind, but when he or she says, “God help me, I’m blind,” God opens that person’s eyes and gives him or her light.

Have you recognized spiritual blindness in your life? How have you received sight from God?

What are some areas in which you want to grow in faith? Why is the step of learning to see so important?

PRACTICE THIS

Ask a brother or sister in the faith to help keep you accountable for areas of spiritual blindness and to walk with you as you learn to see.
