The Truth About God’s Love for You

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” ROMANS 8:31-34

PONDER THIS

If you were to say to me, “Adrian, can I have one of your sons? Can I have your firstborn son, Steve?” I would say, “No, I won’t give you my son.” I wouldn’t even begin to think about it. But suppose, for some strange reason, you needed my son so that my son might die on your behalf. Suppose you could talk me into loving you that much, and I gave you my precious boy, Steve. And then you asked me for some of his belongings, and I said yes. I mean, if I loved you enough to give you my son, certainly I’d give you anything else.

Paul says, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (v. 32). If God loved us enough to give us Jesus, what would He withhold? So, Paul was saying, “Don’t get caught up in a counterfeit Christianity.” God is the unsparing God: He will not spare sin; He will not spare the sinner. But He did not spare His Son, the Lord Jesus, so that you and I might be saved and have eternal life. The world is full of counterfeits. Make sure you have the real thing.

What are some spiritual blessings you have because of Christ?

How should God being an unsparing God impact our faith?

PRACTICE THIS

Share with a friend how God is an unsparing God, not sparing the sinner but also not sparing His Son so that we could be with Him
