BIBLE MEDITATION:
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
In just ten words, Genesis 1:1 holds all this:
• We have a God who is simply presented in all of creation; we should recognize Him.
• We have a God who is sovereignly powerful; we should respect Him.
• We have a God who is surely purposeful; we should reverence Him.
• We have a God who is savingly personal; we should receive Him.
The very first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1, presents two foundational thoughts.
We have an obligation to God. We are twice His: first, because of creation, and second, because of redemption. He made us. Then when we were lost, He bought us back.
God has an obligation to us: The Bible calls Him a “faithful Creator” (1 Peter 4:19). When God brought us into this universe, He did not make us to abandon us. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sin. He comes to live in your heart, to guard you, guide you, protect you, and take care of you. He fulfills his obligation to you.
ACTION POINT:
The God who made you and created you, did not create you to abandon you. Did you ever lose something very precious to you, and then have it restored to you again? What did that feel like? That’s just an inkling of the treasure you are to God! Believe it and rest in the Lord today!
