What Does God Expect From Me?

Everyone can do this!

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?  - Micah 6:8

Act justly.
Micah challenged the people because they worshiped God with their lips but not their heart.

9 The voice of the LORD cries to the city- and it is sound wisdom to fear your name: "Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!
10 Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?
11 Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?
12 Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow, making you desolate because of your sins.  - Micah 6:9-13

Treat people the right way.
Honor, love and respect your neighbors.

Just think how you act when you are cut off in traffic or when you are headed into a parking spot and someone whips around you and gets that spot.

17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. - Romans 12:17-18

19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
20 To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:19-21

God expects His children to act justly.
Look around at the lost world.
There is great opportunity to act justly.

How do we act justly?
1. Control your anger.
Your greatest opportunity to act justly is when you are mad.
People will not respect you.

Quick temper verses:
31 Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways,
32 for the devious person is an abomination to the LORD, but the upright are in his confidence.  - Proverbs 3:31-32

The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.  - Proverbs 12:16

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.  - Proverbs 14:29

You can control your temper.
Just stop, be quite, be still and give it to the Lord.
Respond with grace.
Be accountable.

2. Care for others.

Love your brother.

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.  - Proverbs 3:27

Every person is important.
Give that heart felt smile.
Love one another!

Thank you Pastor Kevin!
