What makes God sick?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Revelation 2:4

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
In Revelation 2:1-7, the Lord charges the church at Ephesus with leaving their first love. It wasn’t that they didn’t love the Lord Jesus. It was that they didn’t love Him like they used to. If there ever was a time when you loved Jesus more than you do at this moment, you’re backslidden.

G. Campbell Morgan said, “Lukewarmness is the worst form of blasphemy.” Lukewarmness is a way of saying, “God, I believe in You, but You just don’t excite me.” That’s terrible. That says, “God, Your love, Your sacrifice, all Your worth—they just don’t move me.” We yawn in the face of God. No wonder in the next chapter Jesus said, “I would that you were either hot or cold. But you’re neither. You’re lukewarm. Therefore, you make me sick.”

God loves you too much to let you get by with lukewarmness. He will chasten you. When He shows you that you’re lukewarm, there’s only one thing to do: “…be zealous and repent” (Revelation 3:19).

Many of us have dethroned the Lord Jesus Christ and enthroned self. Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock” (Rev. 3:20). Jesus Christ is knocking at the door saying, “Let Me in!”

ACTION POINT:
Have you left your first love? Has your love for Jesus become lukewarm? I don’t know when Jesus is coming, but when He comes, I want to be on fire. Open the door of your heart wide to Him. Say, “Come in, Lord Jesus. Rule in my heart. I want to be ready for Your return.”
