The Whole World in His Hands

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:17

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
We sing about the Lord having the whole world in His hands. But do you know what is more remarkable than that? He has the whole universe in His hands.

He’s the One who spoke it into existence. He’s the One who keeps it going. He’s the One who is going to fold it up like a garment and tuck it away in a drawer somewhere. He regulates it; He rules it and He runs it.

When you pick up the newspaper and read something alarming, you don’t need to panic. Instead, remember Who has it under His control. He who flung the stars in space has the whole universe in His hands!

ACTION POINT:
Take the hand of a child today and look at the stars twinkling in the night sky or a flower beginning to bloom. Then share about the awesome Creator and Sustainer of all.

Holy Spirit Conviction vs. Satanic Accusation

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
You will be a miserable Christian if you don’t learn the difference between Holy Spirit conviction and satanic accusation.

When the Holy Spirit convicts you of a sin, He will not make you just “feel bad all over.” He will put His finger right on the sore spot and push. He will convict you specifically and He will convict you legitimately.

Now if the devil doesn’t convict you of all your sins in general, he will try to accuse you of a specific sin for which you have already been forgiven. And he will fight a losing battle, because if you put your sin under the blood of Jesus Christ and it comes up again, it’s not God bringing it up.

ACTION POINT:
Are you under conviction or accusation today about an unconfessed sin? Read Revelation 12:9-11. Claim the powerful blood of Jesus to cover your sin. Repent and believe!

Praise the Lord

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever.” Revelation 7:12

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
I heard about a man who got a little excited in church and kept shouting, “Praise the Lord!”

One day, some of the brethren called on him while he was plowing his fields. When they were finished talking, he hung his head and said, “I know it’s the truth. I have disturbed the services, but you know, I sit there and think what the Lord has done for me, how He died in agony and blood for me upon the cross, how He’s forgiven all of my sins, how He’s filled me with the Spirit, and—here, hold this mule while I shout!”

If being a Christian and going to heaven doesn’t excite you, then you have calluses on your soul. It’s exciting to know the Lord Jesus Christ!

ACTION POINT:
When was the last time you raised your hands and shouted “Praise the Lord!” Maybe right now is a good time!

The Rapture of the Church

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
I believe there will be seven years of terrible tribulation. It will be a time of tyranny and persecution. It will be a time when all nature will be out of joint and when demon spirits will infest the world. It will be a time when the Anti-Christ will rule and reign.

But before the tribulation comes, the Church is going to be raptured out. You might find it interesting to note that the word “rapture” is not found in the Bible, but the word “caught up” is, and that’s literally what the word “rapture” means. We will be “caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

ACTION POINT:
Do your loved ones know what the rapture means? Why not ask them what they think this next week and open the door for a candid discussion about the future?

Hell Is Real

I heard this statement the other day on a trailer for a movie.
90 % of people who were born in the church, raised in the church,  saved in the church, married and buried in the church will never share the gospel with another soul.
This hurts my soul!
How can this be?
If we say we follow Christ, His command was to make disciples!!!
How can we have missed such a joyful thing?
Think about what is at stake!!
Hell is real, it's ugly, it is inescapable, and it's for an eternity!!!
We all are deserving of this punishment but God being rich in mercy, sent Christ as a propitiation for those who will believe on Him for salvation
We have a choice to believe or deny, to share or stay silent, to pray for the lost or to be hard hearted and not care!
Look around and see those who are waiting to hear the gospel!
Ask God to open your heart, your eyes and your mind so that you can share the hope you have in Christ!!!

19 "There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.
20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried,
23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
24 And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.'
25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.
26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'
27 And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house-
28 for I have five brothers-so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.'
29 But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'
30 And he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
31 He said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.'" - Luke 16:19-31

Lukewarmness-A Form Of Blasphemy

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” Revelation 2:4

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
In Revelation 2:1-7, we read about the Lord’s charge that the church at Ephesus had left their first love. It wasn’t that they didn’t love the Lord Jesus. It was that they didn’t love Him like they used to. If there ever was a time when you loved Jesus more than you do at this moment, you’re backslidden. G. Campbell Morgan said that lukewarmness is the worst form of blasphemy. I believe he’s right. Lukewarmness is a way of saying, “God, I believe in You, but You just don’t excite me.” Oh, how we ought to stay in love with the Lord Jesus Christ!

ACTION POINT:
Have you left your first love? Has your love for Jesus become lukewarm? Pray Psalm 26:2 and seek His face.

When Death Comes Calling

As I sit by her hospital bed, she looks frail but you can tell she still has a quite inner strength.
Her lips move but there is no sound. At first, I think she's mumbling but as I sit still and watch. I become aware that she is talking to the Lord. Her daughter says she's just mumbling in her sleep and I say, no she is talking to the Lord. I call her name and ask if she is praying and with her sweet soft voice, she says yes!! She is in the hospital again with another assault on her 80 something body! There have been many assaults including strokes, operations on various parts, pneumonia, and a whole host of seemingly never ending others. But still, she trust the Lord with an unwavering faith. What a testimony to His Lordship!

Lord, teach us this trust, this faith, this hope that comes from only knowing You.
Give us intimate knowledge to face these assaults knowing You have us in Your righteous right hand. Calm fears with Your sovereign guidance through Your holy word. Amen

9 you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, "You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off";
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  - Isaiah 41:9-10

Death Comes To All
1 But all this I laid to heart, examining it all, how the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of God. Whether it is love or hate, man does not know; both are before him.
2 It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.
3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4 But he who is joined with all the living has hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Their love and their hate and their envy have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun. - Ecclesiastes 9:1-6

Are you ready for eternity???
