Do You Fear God?

PRAY OVER THIS

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear.” Hebrews 11:7a

PONDER THIS

God warned Noah of the flood. But Noah had never seen a flood. In fact, Noah had never even seen rain. Genesis 2:5-6 says, “before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.” Noah didn’t have evidence of the flood, but He did have evidence of God and His faithfulness.

When Noah believed God, he feared God. Fear and faith are inseparably linked. Fear sees God’s power, holiness, and justice. Faith sees God’s loving kindness, grace, and mercy. Therefore, the fear of God is not a cringing dread of God. It is love on its knees.

What evidence is there in your life that you fear God in an appropriate way?

How does a right fear of God lead to living faithfully before God?

PRACTICE THIS

What is something you know God is calling you to do? Obey Him without delay. Fear God that you might walk faithfully before Him.
