What Sin Is

The definition of sin is: transgression against God's law or rebellion against God
1John 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
The punishment for sin:
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin is long standing:
Romans 5:13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law
Christ was not a sinner:
2 Cor.5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Christ is our advocate before God:
1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
We have power from Christ to resist sin:
Romans 8:9-11 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
We are covered in saving grace:
Eph.1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
We, the human beings which God created, were born in sin because of the sin imparted to us from Adam and Eve. But there is deeper sin here, the personal ones we willingly commit!
Oh Lord, forgive us, Lord forgive me, when we knowingly rebell against You. Engrave Your Word on our hearts so we will not sin. Burn Your Word in our souls so that when we do sin, we suffer fear! Fear of everlasting separation from You. Amen
