Living Out Your Faith

We live in a dark place.
Our nation is divided.
Sin abounds.
We are to be light in the darkness.

1. Ignore the crowd.
11 Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him.
12 As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. - Luke 7:11-12

Jesus focus is on the widow!
The Gospel comes down to one on one.
You disciple one on one.
Ministry is one on one.
It's personal.
It's relational.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."  - Jeremiah 1:5

Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. - Luke 12:7

13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.  - Psalm 139:13-16

2. Open your eyes.
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep." - Luke 7:13

Slow down and see the hurting people that are all around you.
Don't miss the chance to minister.

3. Follow your heart.
Let your heart go out to others.
We lose loved ones.
We lose jobs.
We get sick.
We get deep in sin.
Sorrow!

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.
36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." - Matthew 9:35-38

casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7

4. Leave the sidelines.
Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." - Luke 7:14

Jesus went to the widow.
He ministers to her.
God cares.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

5. Meet the need.
And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. - Luke 7:15

Lean on the Lord.
He is able!
Let your thinking be about others.

God is worshiped.
They praised God!
Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and "God has visited his people!" - Luke 7:16

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!  - Psalm 150:6

God alone saves through Jesus His Son!

The Gospel is spread.
And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country. - Luke 7:17

It's all about Jesus!!
Lift Him up!

Thanks Pastor Kevin!!
