Careless Words

This is for myself as well as others.
Habits!
You know the things you do, almost mindlessly!
Those words you speak while in this mindless state, choose them carefully.
Weigh them as if their impact will cause great damage or endless delight.
We hurt others or we build their self esteem.
But, also included in this are the slang words we toss around.
One that come to mind are omg, which is oh my God.
We should never use God's name in such a cavalier way.
It's used in society everywhere and everyday.
Our Lord, our Creator, our very reason for existence.
He is due our reverence, our devotion and certainly our holding His name above all things.
Instead we causally use His name as an expression of being perturbed or in a state of
exclamation.
Weigh your words!!
Kick the worldly habit!!
And what about Jesus?
Hollywood and all its attempts to degrade God and Son, shameful.
Jesus, our salvation come to life!
Only speak His name in gratitude.
Don't accept this evil speech!

36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." - Matthew 12:36-37

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. - Exodus 20:7

4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. - Ephesians 5:4-5

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. - Ephesians 5:11

For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. - Ecclesiastes 12:14

So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. - Romans 14:12

4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;
5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.
7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. - 1 Peter 4:4-8

2 For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
3 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.
4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind,
8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. - James 3:2-10

But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. - James 5:12
