Go Put on Your Shoes

BIBLE MEDITATION:

“…and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace”...
(Ephesians 6:13-15)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

A Roman soldier had to have sandals with hobnails to give him firm standing, very much like a golfer's spikes. He had to be able to stand his ground. And because the devil would love to trip us up, God tells us, as we’re putting on our armor, to put on our shoes—and not just any shoes, but shoes of the Gospel of peace.

You see, your enemy, the devil, can defeat some people through error. They embrace error because they don't have sound doctrine, the belt of truth. Others the devil can defeat through sin because they don't have on the breastplate of righteousness.

But some, the devil will get through discouragement; they’ll lose their peace. He’ll plant thorns, briars, and set up stumbling blocks. If we don't have our shoes on, our spiritual feet will be bruised and bleeding. Rather than leaping, we’ll be limping because we don't have peace.

ACTION POINT:

Your shoes are “the preparation of the gospel of peace,” peace with God. The peace of God dwelling in your heart enables you to fight Satan. Do you have this peace?
