God's Commandment To Love

Yes, God has commanded His people to love one another.

The fruit of the spirit is love.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23

This love wears work gloves.
It hugs the lonely, feeds the hungry, tends the sick, comforts the sorrowful, and puts up with the insufferable.

Agape love
Sacrificial love
Unconditional love

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. - Ephesians 5:1-2

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
- John 13:34

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. - John 15:12

These things I command you, so that you will love one another. - John 15:17

And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. - 1 John 3:23

Love is an action, a response, it's a verb and it's what we do.
Feelings follow not precede.

When the Ephesians church lost its first love, God said what?

4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. - Revelation 2:4-5

The love commands effect you in every walk of your life, your home, your church, your community, your job.
Yes, even love your enemies.

And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments. - Luke 23:34

God commands the impossible.
Cultivation of love.
God gives to you and you give to others.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:13

Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. - 1 Corinthians 14:1

The Challenges to love.
Reflect on God's love for you.

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. - 1 John 3:16

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. - 1 John 4:11

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8

Trapped by the enemy, hopeless and surrounded on every side, this is our plight without Jesus who held out His hands and gave himself as a sacrifice to save your soul from Hell. He is still reaching out to save the lost! Christ loved the world through His agony on the Cross. This is genuine love.

Pursue genuine love.

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. - Romans 12:9

Let Your love be sincere.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." - John 13:35

Pray for greater love.

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, - Philippians 1:9

Let Your love grow.

Don't be afraid to risk.

If you love, you will be vulnerable.

Practice love everyday.
Be imitators of God.

Let all that you do be done in love. - 1 Corinthians 16:14

Show the world what it means to love.
Remember that Christ died for you!!

Thanks Pastor David!!
