Your Choice: A set of rules? Or a friend?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Paul thought it was the greatest of blessings to be “found in Him” (Philippians 3:9). Hadn’t you rather have a friend than a set of rules? Before this, Paul had the law. Now, he has the Lord. And what a difference! What a safe place—to be found in Jesus Christ. Paul exchanged a set of rules for a friend. It’s like the old hymn that says,

And He walks with me and He talks with me
And He tells me I am his own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known…

…and they can’t ever know until they receive Jesus. If you are saved, you’re not “just a church member”—you are in Christ. You’re in His Body and He is in you. Talk about fellowship divine! You may be alone, but you’ll never be lonely again, because the Lord Jesus Christ is in you and you are in the Lord Jesus Christ, “found in Him,” as Paul says. That’s a safe place to be, isn’t it?

ACTION POINT:
Meditate on the truth that “He tells me I am His own.”
